NSX Activities

A total of N$ 3,001,053.97 worth of shares was traded on the NSX on Monday, with about N$ 1,801,138 worth of shares belonging to Anglo-American plc and N$ 28,800 worth of shares belonging to Namibia Breweries trades occurred on the home front. ETFs worth N$ 18,562.35 were traded on Monday

From the trading activity that took place:

  • Anglo-American shares were traded resulting in a decline  in the company’s share price by 1.5%
  • Namibia Breweries’ shares exchanged hands with no change in share price at closing
  • Satrix S&P Namibia Bond ETF (prev. NewFunds S&P Namibia Bond ETF) was traded on the secondary market resulting in no change in price

Local News

A study commissioned by the World Bank has concluded that there is no need for the National Equitable Economic Empowerment (NEEEF) Bill, set to be introduced at a time when value addition and local empowerment are pushed in Namibia’s green hydrogen and oil and gas industry (Sun Newspaper)

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has cautioned that while Namibia is making progress in building new electricity-generating capacity, progress is not fast enough, and will not be sufficient to completely replace imports. The IPPR stated that this precarious situation is likely to last several years until the end of the decade. (New Era Newspaper)
