NSX Activities

A total of N$ 120,086,082.73 worth of shares was traded on the NSX on Friday with about N$ 6,001,598 worth of shares belonging to Anglo-American plc and N$765,000 worth of Capricorn Group on the home front. ETFs worth N$ 2,307,223.40 were traded on Friday.

HEI Market Commentary

From the trading activity that took place:

  • Anglo-American shares were sold off by market participants, resulting in a decrease in share price by -5.8% at closing
  • The shares belonging to Capricorn Group were traded on the domestic stock exchange, resulting in no change in share price at the end of the trading day

Local News

A train carrying manganese to Lüderitz derailed about 40km outside Aus yesterday afternoon. According to TransNamib spokesperson Abigail Raubenheimer, two people died in the accident. (Sun Newspaper)

Bank Windhoek’s Chief Treasurer, Claire Hobbs, said with the recent discovery of oil and gas off Namibia’s coast and the finds of highly sought-after lithium, Namibia is becoming an attractive prospect for direct foreign investment, fast-tracking it for economic growth needs. Sub-Sahara News

Due to a slight improvement in the generation, Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday. It will then be followed by Stage 3 from 05:00 to 16:00. This pattern of Stage 3 and Stage 4 load shedding will be repeated daily until further notice, Eskom said in a statement. (News24)
