A total of N$ 836,340,988 worth of shares was traded on the NSX on Wednesday with about N$  41,187,906 worth of Momentum Metropolitan Holdings and N$  149,354 worth of Capricorn Group Limited on the home front. ETFs worth N$ 107,026 were traded on Wednesday

From the trading activity that took place:

  • Momentum Metropolitan’s share price declined as the market faced another aggressive bear condition
  • On the local NSX listing, shares belonging to Capricorn Group Limited were traded with no change in share price at closing
  • New Gold Issuer Ltd NM ETF was traded on the secondary bourse resulting in a sell-off in one transaction.

Local News

The real value of building plans approved declined by 7.8% and 9.1% year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, respectively, to N$502.4 million. (Namibian Sun)

President Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed European Union (EU) Council President, Charles Michel’s pledge that commits the European Union to support Africa’s efforts to achieve food security. (All Africa News)

International News

The European Union told member states on Wednesday to cut gas usage by 15% until March as an emergency step after President Vladimir Putin warned that Russian supplies sent via the biggest pipeline to Europe could be reduced further and might even stop. (Reuters)

Asian stock markets are trading mostly higher on Thursday, despite the broadly negative cues from global markets overnight, as hotter than expected US inflation data raised the prospect of more aggressive Federal Reserve tightening to rein in 41-year high inflation. (RTT News)

The European Union on Wednesday urged its 27 member states to reduce gas usage by 15 percent from August through March of next year, as concerns mount that Russia may cut off gas flow to the region. (Aljazeera News)
