Local News

The Twin Hills Gold Project, located close to Karibib is on track to create 750 new jobs in the region and has already brought N$224.6 million of foreign direct investment to the Namibian economy (Sun Newspaper)

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says he was misunderstood on Monday when he was quoted saying that the conditions under which government would take over Eskom’s debt were linked to the power utility building new coal, gas and nuclear plants. (News24)

Uganda’s lawmakers have approved a request by the government to allow it to borrow $464 million from Standard Chartered Bank STAN.L and other international lenders to help finance infrastructure development, parliament said on Thursday. (CNBC Africa)

The Public Servants Association wage negotiations with the government deadlocked again this week. The union wants a 6.5% increase while the government dug in its heels at 3%. Public servants in the transport department, as well as home affairs, are participating, while other key public service unions – police union Popcru, nursing union Denosa and National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) – are yet to issue a notice to strike.
