NSX Activities

A total of N$ 17,226,953.10 worth of shares was traded on the NSX on Tuesday with about N$1,962,625 worth of shares belonging to Anglo-American plc and N$ 4,417,051 from Namibia Breweries on the home front. ETFs worth N$ 676,108.57 were traded on Tuesday.

HEI Market Commentary

From the trading activity that took place:

  • Anglo-American performance on the overall bourse declined on the backdrop of bearish performance in the global markets
  • Namibia Breweries shares were traded by market participants, with no change in share price.
  •  New Gold Issuer Ltd NM & New Gold Platinum ETF N were both subscribed by market participants yesterday as the volatility of the markets pushed for more engagements in gold futures.

Small parties and citizens’ lists are put at a disadvantage by the electoral law changes made by parliament on 23 December. Candidates’ lists must be submitted 60 days before the elections. Each list must have as many candidates as there are seats in the municipal assembly plus at least three supplementary (suplentes) and each candidate must have five documents which are not always easy to obtain. Consumer prices from the UK and passenger car registrations from Europe are the top economic news due on Wednesday. At 2.00 am ET, the Office for National Statistics is set to release UK consumer prices for December. Inflation is forecast to ease to 10.5 percent from 10.7 percent in November. (RTT News)
